Restaurant review: Juggernaut – Finding South in the North

If you are a south Indian food lover and dosa is your thing, then Juggernaut in South Delhi is something that will surely interest you.

As I entered on the ground floor at Juggernaut, a south Indian restaurant spread across three levels in Kailash Colony Market, I was greeted by a young lady holding a Tika thali, who applied the South Indian style tika on my forehead with a sweet shy smile. After which I took the lift up to the restaurant on the second floor. As I walked to the lift I was immediately impressed by the style of décor, the painting on the walls, the black stone urulis adorned with fresh flowers petals of roses, carnations and marigold – all these in my path making me feel as I was walking on a bed of flowers. The decor is very bright and colorful with natural light streaming in from the tall glass windows covering the full wall. The wooden furniture done in old colonial style, gives a very lovely old era feel. To complete the ambiance is soft classical music of the sitar and tabla playing. After a few minutes of sitting down, now it was the time to experience the authentic South Indian food.

The menu has many options of dosa, idli, and other south Indian specialties. I ordered a Garlic Paneer Dosa, which came with plain coconut chutney, tomato chutney, green chutney and a sweet halwa

My first bite of dosa and my mouth got a burst of flavours – tomato tangy, spicy, garlicky, soft paneer tempered with onion curry patta, saunf. The garlic masala paste inside the dosa was giving the full body garlic flavour that I found delicious. In the Sambar, I could feel the sambar masalas little spicy, lightly tangy. I felt the tomato chutney complemented the dosa well. In the coconut chutney, I could taste the natural coconut taste. Halwa had just the right amount of sweetness.

Thanks to the attentive and helpful service, I was able to enjoy ordering and eating my food with timely replishments of chutney, sambar and water.

After my meal when back to the ground floor, sampled their savory offerings and make purchases to take home more of the goodness found here.

So, add this place to your foodie bucket list if you are looking to try some delicious versions of dosa.
